MARIE LOUISE COOKSON

Narrator, England

After studying for a B.A. in Classical Studies at King’s College London, Marie enrolled in a post graduate course in Acting at Drama Studio London.

As a writer-actor, she has performed monologues, one-act plays and short stories in venues such as The Royal Exchange Theatre, Contact Theatre, Studio Salford and the Manchester Independent Book Market.

Since 2012, Marie has attended two international arts residencies: Arteles Creative Center in Finland and the Vermont Studio Center in New England. At Arteles, she focused on developing her writing/performing skills and at VSC, concentrated on writing prose fiction.

As a voice over artist, Marie narrated the poem, Desires by Gaia Holmes which was made into an animated short by Kate Jessop. The film was subsequently screened in over two hundred UK cinemas and became a finalist for the Virgin Media Shorts 2008. She also voiced the title character in another animated short, The Moss Witch. This was based on a story by the author Sara Maitland and was directed by Lisa Risbec.

Marie is very excited to be joining the Mash team and can’t wait to read and record lots of fantastic stories.
