Hailing from the seaside town of Worthing in the UK, Lucy studied at the University of Sussex, gaining a BA (Hons) in English and an MA in Creative and Critical Writing. She sharpened her skills in workshops and online, writing a long-running story in her teen years based on – don’t laugh – The Sims 2. Now, drawing from her love of fun, accessible fiction and genre study, she has completed her first mystery novel: think Golden Age crime fiction with a Bridget Jones twist.
When she isn’t querying agents or working on the sequel, Lucy posts writing advice for other aspiring novelists on her blog, and annoys her writing group by giving critiques longer than the actual work they shared. Her first passion is entertaining people with her writing; helping others to do the same is her second.
Lucy’s story, Homecoming Queen, was shortlisted in the seventh Mash Stories competition. She is thrilled to be joining the Mash team in August 2015, and can’t wait to get her hands – and proverbial red pen – on the entries. Bring it on, Mashers!
